wakening from the dreaming forest

Filed under: Uncategorized — Wendy @ 1:37 pm

Lost in the forest, I broke off a dark twig
and lifted its whisper to my thirsty lips:
maybe it was the voice of the rain crying,
a cracked bell, or a torn heart.

Something from far off it seemed
deep and secret to me, hidden by the earth,
a shout muffled by huge autumns,
by the moist half-open darkness of the leaves.

Wakening from the dreaming forest there, the hazel-sprig
sang under my tongue, its drifting fragrance
climbed up through my conscious mind

as if suddenly the roots I had left behind
cried out to me, the land I had lost with my childhood—
and I stopped, wounded by the wandering scent.

I hope everyone enjoys their Easter! And if you don’t celebrate it, have a lovely Sunday afternoon. It’s 70 and sunny here, quite nice.

- Daft Punk "Something About Us (Love Theme)”

These rainy daffodils are from Monday. The weather was drizzly and dreary, my favorite photography weather!

I am so excited for the weekend. I have no plans or commitments and that has left me feeling very relaxed! I hope everyone enjoys their weekends as much as I will.

gumballs

There’s a big basket of these under the gum tree. I guess Karen and Mike gathered them all up out of the yard this year. I can see how they would be annoying in the yard.

Happy Friday!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Wendy @ 1:16 pm

75 and sunny today. I love you Friday!

I know, this isn’t normally my kind of weather, but I’m ready for some brightness and color outside again. I am looking forward to spring flowers too! The daffodils are already poking their little happy faces out of the ground.

- "Dream a Little Dream of Me" The Mamas and the Papas

Not sure how I feel about this one. I was going for a muted, soft look, but my brain screams "Where are the bright colors?!" at me.

- A Song of Despair by Pablo Neruda

This is a sad poem, fitting for a shadowy and deep flower I think.
