dianthus
sorry it’s been so long since i’ve posted anything. sometimes i just lose my mojo.

this was growing among the irises in the back yard. it’s a very pretty little flower, quite delicate.
this is a difficult flower to photograph. it has a very interesting structure inside, but because the flower hangs down from a very short stem i was unable to get a good shot. maybe next year when they’re blooming i’ll have a better setup.
there’s another shot on my flickr of the flower closeup, click through to check it out.
i took this one last week on a rainy, windy day. the sun came out for a little bit and i ran out to shoot some flowers before they faded for the season. this yellow iris is the only shot that turned out.
i feel like there should be some way to combine the words tequila and bokeh but i can’t think of anything :P
also, i blame tim! i used to (very occasionally) drink alcohol that was $15 a bottle. he gave me a taste for the good stuff.
this is a wider shot of the same watch i posted macros of last week. check out a large view of the image, you can see the balance wheel is blurred from moving. WWII pilot’s watch, meant to be worn strapped to the thigh.
i’m not sure what this plant is. i had seen a named photo of it on flickr a week or so ago, and meant to bookmark it so i would have the info…and didn’t. if anyone knows drop me a line!
some pretty for the weekend. not that watches aren’t pretty…just not in the same way as lilacs :D
This is a watch worn by Luftwaffe pilots in WWII. It’s made by A. Lange & Sohne. The watch is actually huge, and meant to be worn strapped to the thigh, not the wrist. This was sent to us by a collector for repair. It’s neat to see watches like this come to the shop, it’s like holding a piece of history. There are more pictures at my flickr, just click the image to go there.
